Paediatric Work Related Training Courses

Welcome to Archangel’s Paediatric First Aid page where you can browse our selection of Childcare First Aid training courses. As with all our courses these sessions meet all the requirements laid down by Ofqual.

All the courses listed below meet and exceed the requirements laid down by Ofsted, The Care Commission, EYFS and SureStart for people needing first aid courses for Infants and Children. This group includes childminders and carers. The HSE recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher course. Archangel’s Paediatric courses are approved by most councils across the UK.

Remember we can come to you or you can attend one of our open courses, whatever suits your needs.

Parent First Aid is aimed at any new or existing parent who wants to learn the basic first aid skills for infants and children. We also have a family first aid course which covers the adults as well as an online or classroom course.

Being a new parent is a frightening time not knowing what to do but with this course at least if the worst should happen you will have the basic skills needed to recognise a problem, give immediate care and get help fast.

Research shows that parents want to know more about how to deal with emergency situations, but are put off as many of the courses are too costly and inconveniently timed. By using two hour sessions, we cover the vital aspects of infant and child basic life support that every parent should know.

To allow learners to take in as much as possible we keep it simple with plenty of hands on practice with our infant and child CPR manikins.

The sessions are similar in format to a party plan where you and some friends get together in one of your homes and we come to you.

The session costs £25 per person, unless you are the host, in which case its free, all we ask is that between 5 and 10 people attend.

The sessions are standalone, so you can complete one session or all five and can select which one you want to complete, providing you with maximum flexibility. Why not get some friends together and host one each so everyone gets one free session covering the different topics (see below), and build your knowledge over a series of mornings, afternoons or evenings?

Alternatively you can simply pick from the topics listed and mix and match to design your own curriculum.

Full day courses are also available, where we cover all the sessions in around 7 to 8 hours so feel free to contact me for a chat about your requirements.

The sessions are as follows;

Session 1

Illness and Injury Assessment, Infant & Child CPR, Airway Management and Recovery Position

Session 2

Serious Bleeding, Shock, Spinal Injury and Choking

Session 3

Breaks, Fractures and dislocations, Head Injuries, Eye Injuries and Burns & Scalds

Session 4

Anaphylaxis, Seizures & Epilepsy, Asthma, Meningitis Awareness, Febrile Convulsions and Diabetes

Session 5

Poisoning, Drowning, Temperature Related Illnesses, Bites and Stings, Crush Injuries, Chest Injuries and Electrical Injuries.

I found this course very effective as our instructor ensured it was taken at our pace and there was no time limit or feeling of rush. Everyone took part and was encouraged to understand the realities of the situation were it to happen for real. Brent was very patient and answered any questions from the group and demonstrated everything very well. This is so far the most enjoyable course I have taken.
