Frequently Asked Questions

The Lofsteadt review of health and safety legislation proposed that the Health and safety (First Aid) Regs 1981 be amended to remove the requirement for the HSE to approve First Aid training qualifications.

However employers must carry out their own risk assessment and provide adequate and appropriate training, equipment, facilities and staff to enable first aid to be administered to ill or injured persons in the workplace.

Yes, we are fully approved to provide First Aid at Work Training.

This depends upon various factors including the type of work you do, how many employees you have, any specific medical conditions an employee may have, and any other relevant factors. For further advice give us a call or visit the HSE website, where you will find an assessment guide.

You can find more information on the HSE website.

This is possible, however to date no person rendering first aid has ever been charged with an offence in this country. The possibility, while it still exists, remains extremely low if it can be shown that the first aider acted in good faith and acted within their training.

Archangel is extremely flexible and offer several options for training provision. If you have three or more staff members who require training and have a suitable training area then we can come to you.

(If our pre-programmed dates do not suit then give us a call as we can offer dates to suit your needs, including evenings and weekends if necessary)

If your qualification has run out, you have a 28 day period of grace to take a refresher, after this time you will be required to undertake the fully course again.

There are two options which cover Paediatric First Aid:

Option 1: 2 day, twelve hour course.

This is suitable for registered Child Minders, Nannies, Au Pairs, Nursery and Pre School teachers, Teachers and School Support Staff.

This course meets and exceeds OFSTED and EYFS requirements.

Option 2: 1 day, 6 hour course.

This is suitable for adults who run after school clubs, however if children under 5 are present then the 2 day course is recommended.

First Aid training must be suitable and cover the age groups of the children under you care.
